Oil filter

Decided to go with a K&P S15 reusable filter. I have been using reusable filters on motorcycles for years with zero issues. In the long run it’s cheaper and a half pound lighter.

Engine dehydrator QR

Decided to plumb in a quick release fitting on the oil separator return line for the engine dehydrator hose. I will leave the dip stick loose to vent. Picked up an AN4 to 1/8 NPT T-adapter on Ebay. McMaster-Carr sells a miniature quick release connector that works great. They sell a solution for just about anything! That’s the last of the mods I can think to do.

Tail wheel and miscellaneous

Decided to polish the tail wheel.

Ran through the GDU 460 configuration again. Tweaked some instrument display settings. Everything is complete until the wings are installed. Tested intercom with two headsets, comm is good between both seats.

Filed edges of lower skybolt flanges that were rubbing on cowling.

Last rivets

Riveted front seat back support to cockpit rails. Installed black flush screws.

Added NO STEP placard to flaps.

Added engine mount adel clamp for O2 sensor harness connector.

Firewall forward and throttle quadrant

Found prop control slightly binding at full forward. Adjusted prop gov rod end bearing and lubed cable ends. Glides nice and smooth now. Made same adjustments to throttle lever and installed clevis cotter pins.

Went through firewall forward looking for any issues. Added zip ties to various wiring and RTV beads to chafe points. Added double heat shrink to control cable ends as protectors.

Last of the to do list

Installed baggage shelf. Confirmed charging wiring secured and not chafing. Trimmed boots to accept charge wire terminals.

Torqued exhaust flange nuts.

Various

Decided to add adel support for crossover fuel line. Added zip ties for #1 EGT/CHT wires.

Removed skybot receptacle lock pins. Installed front shoulder harness.

Cowl/baggage door/oil door

Sanded upper aft cowl to fuselage gap once more. Filed baggage door edges even with fuselage skin. Fabricated retainer washer for oil access door skybolts.

Miscellaneous

Secured cabin heat muff, found prop control clevis mounted to wrong hole on prop lever and relocated. Installed cockpit pocket doors and canopy breaker tool. Drilled snorkel drain hole.

Baffle seals: 3.9 hours

Final trimmed seals and riveted to engine baffles.

Began fabricating fire extinguisher mount.
