Installed lower longerons and ribs to aft skins. Clecoed bottom skin, very tight fit but went on better than expected.
Marked reference lines on aft bulkhead for tailspring mount and drilled keeper holes. The plans are vague so I burned a lot of time on this. Anyway I found the updated measurements on the VAF forum highlighted below.
Finished riveting mid fuselage skins to substructure.
Joined forward and mid fuselage assemblies after clecoing mid skins to assembly. Clecoed forward skins to substructure. Clecoed baggage assembly to mid fuselage and mid longerons to aft skins.
Finished riveting seat ribs to to bulkhead spar. Started riveting mid fuselage skins to substructure. Had to use LP4-3’s in four places. It was just too tight for a bucking bar.
Edge prepped mid and lower longerons. The long ones are 8.5 feet long it took a while to maneuver these large pieces.
Deburred lightening holes in baggage ribs.
Machined countersinked landing gearbox weldment for #8 flush screws and 426 rivets after getting the confirmation from Van’s. Match drilled and deburred seat belt brackets, aft deck, and spacers.
Finished aft fuselage bulkhead edge prep.
Match drilled, deburred, and edge prepped baggage ribs.
Trimmed seat belt brackets to final shape.
Match drilled and began edge prep of aft fuselage bulkheads.
