Inspection

Technical Counselor Jerry Fischer came by to put some official eyes on my rig. Got the green light to proceed to the finish line!

Fabricated and primed additional angle to better secure canopy switch.

Baggage door would not latch. Found forward latch block upside down. Had issues getting canopy hinge pin fully inserted. Ended up using some lube to get into position. Installed avionics Bay cover and test fit with canopy operation. G2G.

Canopy

The original cover plate I fabricated was catching on the aft latch rod.

Replaced aft canopy latch block cover plate with one .040 thick. I widened the hole about a 64th to remain clear of the latch rod to prevent any binding. Did the same with the forward cover plate. Lubed latch rods, opens and closes nice and smooth now.

Sealed snorkel bracket corners with RTV.

Various

Installed battery tray, secured various adel clamps, checked battery bus for correct fuse sizes, and checked area for general condition.

Installed canopy. Having some latch interference issues which I assumed I would.

Added proseal to antenna bases.

Seat floors and various: 4.5 hours

Installed seat floors and riveted forward and side floor platenuts. Those were tough to buck. Began riveting floors to ribs.

Installed baggage door closed cell foam. Home Depot window seal 1 1/4 x 7/16 double layer seems like it will work.

Tested electrical system for interference, tested ELT, and voltage regulator protection circuit.

Adjusted control column fore/aft attach point heights.

Various

Added required Experimental placard, passenger warning placard to canopy cross beam, and canopy handle operation placard.

Replaced lower valve cover bolts with longer ones supporting adel clamps. Added fill primer for low spots on the canopy rivet line. Torqued flap actuator jam nut.

The CO detector was not alerting on the G3X. I found the CO alert pin installed to a high discrete and moved to a low. Works fine now.

Removed floors and vacuumed to remove any FOD. Double checked for general condition.

Ready for a tech counselor inspection. Hope to set one up next week so I can complete engine baffle sealing.

Various

Redid EFII panel switch labeling to match indications on the controller. Tested G3X start warning function that alerts for a stuck starter. Rerouted cylinder one and three injector wiring for more cowl clearance.

Installed replacement EGT #3 probe. Installed aft seat shoulder harness.

Secured battery buss 2 contactor wiring.
