Various: 2.8 hours

Applied proseal to elevator and rudder tips. Sanded skim coat and added micro to the aft seat top low spots.


Elevators & rudder cable fairings: 5.5 hours

Trimmed elevator aft control stop for proper travel. Forward stop was good as is. 28° UP 23° DN. 

Trimmed, edge prepped, match drilled, and dimpled rudder cable fairings. I will rivet later after cables are connected. 

Torqued fuel vent line bulkhead fittings and vent lines to fittings.

Left elevator & trim tab: 2.2 hours

Primed ribs and riveted in place. Much nicer lines and spacing.



Left elevator & trim tab: 8.4 hours

Decided to redo some parts I was not content with and constructed a new elevator trim tab. The orginal tab had a slight bow in the skin from accidentally bending the tab spar flange while dimpling.
Trimmed ends of trim tab and elevator. Fabricated and installed minature ribs. Looks much better than the standard fold over ends but consumed quite a bit of time making the mini ribs from sheet. BTW it’s a 10° bend.


Fiberglass tips: 4.5 hours

Finish sanded horizontal stab and elevator tips to final contour and riveted to the stabilizer. Dimpled vertical stab skin and fiberglass tip, fabricated tip caps and epoxied into place. Fiberglassed and microfilled rudder counterbalance weight.


Fiberglass tips: 7.0 hours

Two days work 5/3-5/4/14.

Microfilled tip caps, sanded elevator tips and applied second coat of micro filler. Cut, match drilled, and edge prepped vertical stab fiberglass tip.


Fiberglassing the tips: 3.4 hours

Glassed over the elevator counterweights forming a scarf joint. Next will be micro fill to smooth finish the tips. Laid out fiberglass tip rivet hole positions on horizontal stab.
